Go Green

Green Teen of the Month

The Green Teen of the Month award is given to Turlock teens who have demonstrated outstanding service in environmental preservation practices which include exemplary performance with activities aimed at educating and/or engaging the participation of his/her peers in the following areas:
  • Water and Energy Conservation
  • Pollution Prevention
  • Waste Reduction and Recycling
  • Air Pollution Prevention (climate change/global warming)
  • Preservation/Enhancement of natural areas.
The award recipient will be announced at a specified Turlock City Council meeting and will have their photo and biography displayed on the City of Turlock’s website on the “Go Green” section home page, as well as in the Turlock Journal and the Municipal Services “Go Green” Newsletter publications.

Nomination forms can be downloaded online, or in paper form to the Municipal Services Department at City Hall. The student will be notified, have their picture taken, and asked to submit a one-page biographical questionnaire.

Green Teen of the Month

Ariel Vierra

Ariel Vierra was named the Green Teen of the Month for March by the City of Turlock Municipal Services division. Vierra is a senior at Turlock High School and an active member of the SAVE Club. She dedicates numerous hours to environmental beautification and awareness projects. "I will continue my efforts in doing my part in helping the environment," Vierra said. "I hope to one day join the Peace Corps." Besides the SAVE Club, Vierra is also involved in the Art Club, Portuguese Club, Link Crew, Amnesty International, Future Educators of America and Philosophy Club. Vierra's suggestions on how to practice conservation at home include, "always do everything in moderation and try to recycle, reduce, and reuse." - The Green Teen of the Month award is presented to local teenagers who show outstanding commitment to environmental stewardship.
