Housing Program Services

Non Profit Organization Grants

The Housing Program Services (HPS) Division provides funds yearly to non-profits through a competition based application process. Federal funds for the non-profits come from a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) provided by HUD. All CDBG funds must benefit low to moderate income households. HPS receives more applications than there are funds available each year. There is a limit set by HUD of 15% of funds available that can be used.

Each year in March, a Notice of Funding availability is published and distributed to Non-Profits. Non-Profits may apply for up to $20,000 for each proposed activity in Turlock. Many activities are carried out with funds from HPS.

Some of the activities that CDBG funds are used for are, teen mother services, free food for the low income, cold weather shelter homeless services, gang prevention services at the local elementary schools and high school. Each year the number of applications grow as does the need of the community. For more information about HPS or non-profit funding contact HPS at (209) 668-5610.
