Large Family Day Care Permit

A Large Family Day Care as defined by the Turlock Municipal Code shall mean the accessory daytime care of seven (7) to 14 children, inclusive, including children under the age of 10 years who reside at the home as set forth in Section 1597.465 of the California Health and Safety Code, within a single family dwelling properly licensed by the State to regularly provide such care.

A Large Family Day Care SHALL NOT operate within 300 feet of another permitted Large Family Day Care on the same street. This application may be denied should there be a permitted and licensed large family day care within 300 feet of the applicant’s property.

A Large Family Day Care Permit shall be issued by the City of Turlock Planning Division. The issuance of a Large Family Day Care permit by the City of Turlock Planning Division DOES NOT replace the requirements for the State issued license.

Day Care Licensing and Requirements

The Community Care Licensing Division of the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) regulates and licenses child care operations, including Large Family Day Care Homes. You will need to contact the Licensed Child Care Fresno Child Care Regional Office, 770 East Shaw Ave., Suite 300, Fresno CA 93710 at (559) 341-5422. They will notify the City of Turlock Fire Services when all your state licensing information has been processed. The Turlock Fire Prevention Bureau will then contact you to schedule a fire inspection for your day care home.

Fire Services Inspection fee (new & annual inspections) $100.00/hour
(Health & Safety Code §13235 states pre-inspection fees for fewer than 25 shall not exceed $50)
